Topic > Persuasive Speech on Human Trafficking - 715

What if your daughter, sister, or mother were kidnapped from a free life and sold into slavery? Don't you want to do everything humanly possible to save her? Every day people are sold, infected with diseases and lose their lives. It's not just poor people who are sold into sex slavery, there are also middle class people who are brought into this industry. It is our duty, our purpose, and our priority to protect the innocent from a life of slavery; we must end human trafficking now. Human trafficking is the trafficking of human beings, most commonly for the purpose of sexual slavery, forced labor, or commercial sexual exploitation of the trafficker. This is “the third largest organized crime, a $10 billion industry” (Krishnan). The women are used as sex slaves and are sold multiple times a day, thousands of times throughout the year. There are three and four year olds being sold for child pornography, why? Their parents cannot afford to feed them, nor can they afford to meet the needs of the rest of the family. The only hope of these parents is to sell their child and get some money to help the rest of the family for a short time. Worldwide, “approximately eight in ten of suspected human trafficking incidents investigated by federally funded task forces have been classified as sex trafficking” (“Victims of Crime”). In addition to being raped by several men, these female victims are drugged, abused and perhaps even killed. Human trafficking is run by big businessmen who think they have the same mentality as the rest of society. They think that by selling women, they are doing good for them, even though “it is a real-life horror that has victimized thousands of people around the world” (K...... middle of paper...... inment Close-Up) that happens around them every day. If everyone around the world united as one, they would be able to end sexual slavery sooner. Human trafficking is a problem that must be stopped before it gets too out of control. These hurt victims need your compassion, empathy and acceptance. These blameless women must feel at ease, knowing that we have caught the culprits and that their evil deeds have been stopped. These criminals pass by every day while we keep our mouths silent. These victimized women and children are sold and abused every day, for what kind of reward? A sexually transmitted disease, the beating of a man who raped her and, in the worst case scenario, death. This is a disgrace to our world, no child or woman, no human being, deserves these horrible life events that they will never forget.
