AMERICAN CULTURE VS INDIAN CULTURECultural Comparison (West vs East) Everyone has their own definition of culture - and when this word is used in general, most of the public has a rough idea of the its meaning. Culture usually refers to the beliefs, ideas, languages, rituals and traditions of certain communities, which have been passed down from generation to generation continuously over the past few centuries. In society, two cultures cannot be identical if one is on the west coast and the other is all the way east. In comparison, American and Indian cultures have a very large differentiation between them. While American culture is a blend of different cultures as each immigrant contains their own previously known culture within them, but soon they will become Americanized, but on the other hand Indian culture is unique and has its own values. India is a fascinating country full of humble traditions, lively festivals and honest beliefs. India has a huge bundle of religions and languages, with Hindi and Punjabi being the most popular in most cities. The vast geographical position of India and America contributed to the birth of new cultures; each characterized by a different style of marriage, educational system and family relationship. The first difference between American culture and Indian culture is marriage. Wedding is a major social event in our society, which establishes a new bond between two individuals and families. Wedding is a joyous occasion full of music, dancing, celebrations and joy. It also reunites long-lost friends, relatives and acquaintances. Indians believe in long term relationships, for example in American culture couples are willing to live together without marriage, but it is impossible to live together without marriage because the society does not allow them to live together. Indians are more family oriented than Americans. They take care of their family and are always ready to do anything for them.
