What would life be like if you could buy marijuana anywhere and everywhere? The website humannhealth seems to think that “If marijuana were legal, short-term cognitive impairment would be active in more people.” (humannhealth.com) This would pose an extreme risk to young Americans as they gain greater access to the drug, it would cause them effects including but not limited to; not being able to achieve a goal they might have had. There are positive things that can come from this, such as helping people with seizures, arthritis, cancer and AIDS. The positive effects would help someone to the point where they would outweigh the negative effects on that person. If marijuana were legalized for medical purposes, patients would be the only ones who would need access to this drug because the drug would then become a help rather than a danger. The background of marijuana is important when creating other drugs, using the drug for other purposes such as protein, knowing what the effects might depend on the place of origin and many other things. “Marijuana was first discovered by China around 4000 BC and was used for hemp fiber to make rope.” (thinkquest.org) Nowadays using hemp for things like protein is not abnormal, protein is perfectly legal and it is good for the body. Hemp protein is a good natural vitamin that will add elements like zinc, fiber and magnesium to your daily diet. As thinkquest.org explains very well, "Actual smoking of marijuana was not introduced to the United States until the 1920s, when it was brought from Mexico." (thinkquest.org) Mexico is a large producer and supplier of many drugs that are imported into America, marijuana is one of them. Marijuana has been a problem for many years now. As a YouTube document explains “Harry j. Anslinger's first drug bust in the United States for his public enemy number one was marijuana. Turning employers against their employees says Mexicans and others were using these drugs at work and it was confusing their minds and they would rape their children and wives. "(youtube.com) Movies have been made to prevent people from using them. and an innumerable amount of protests for and against the use of the drug. "Marijuana first became illegal in 1937, and in the 1990s 70 this drug was in high demand" (youtube.com) No matter how harshly the laws preventing the use of marijuana are enforced, Americans will continue to use it.
