IntroductionOur design project is about anti-stain finger technology. This technology has been an important topic of research with the advent of portable touch screen devices such as phones and tablets. Anyone who has a mobile phone or portable game in their hand knows that the display glass quickly becomes visibly dirty without anti-smudge coatings. Unwanted fingerprint smudges on touch screen surfaces significantly reduce device performance and usefulness, as well as image quality and user enjoyment. Stains are composed of materials resulting from contact with human skin and storage in pockets. The goal of anti-smudge technology is to minimize and/or eliminate finger smudges on touch screens, making them easier and more pleasant to use. Another unexpected but beneficial effect of anti-fingerprint coatings is that, because they are easy to clean, they are less likely to harbor bacteria and other pathogens, thus inhibiting the spread of diseases. Anti-reflective coatings are very popular today because they improve the contrast of high-resolution displays, but an unfortunate side effect of their use in touch applications is that fingerprints are particularly visible on the surface of such low-reflective screens. Current anti-finger smudge technology typically involves a clear screen or film often applied using vacuum suction. These coatings are hydrophobic, oleophobic and lipophobic in nature, which discourages the accumulation of oily fingerprints and stains. Another method to reduce fingerprints and smudges is to use chemical structures that increase surface tension, thus spreading oily deposits upon contact.
