MAC Cosmetics"All ages, all races, all genders, all MAC." This is the motto of one of the fastest growing cosmetics brands in the world, MAC Cosmetics. For MAC artists and MAC customers this motto is not just words, it is truly what drives the culture of this extraordinary company. At any time you will find grandmothers color shopping with their granddaughters. Isn't this an amazing and wonderful concept? As you read on you'll see why MAC is such a unique entity in this well-established industry. Every aspect of what makes MAC Cosmetics; Whether it's its products, its location, its brand image or its phenomenal price, "MAC" is unique and goes against most typical marketing methods. As we all know, product, price, promotion and location are the four key variables that make or break a company. MAC is currently the only Estee Lauder brand that doesn't just meet; but exceeding its annual sales goals. Last year MAC exceeded its sales plan by $121 million! Which is unheard of in this sector. Let's start from the beginning... Makeup Art Cosmetics or MAC was created in 1984 by two men, Frank Tosken, a trained makeup artist and photographer, and Frank Angelo, a successful salon chain entrepreneur in Toronto. They found that readily available cosmetic products did not work well in the intense environment of studio lights and sweat, performed poorly in terms of color, and needed to be constantly retouched. Then, they created cosmetic formulas and colors that met these specific needs. Using them backstage on models and performers, word traveled fast about how wonderful these products were. At first the MAC was only available to professional makeup artists. Then by word of mouth the news spread to the general population and was made available to the public and in 1994 it was purchased by Estee Lauder who owns many of the world's favorite cosmetic brands. MAC continues to be a cosmetics endorsement brand, meaning there is no paid advertising for MAC to promote its mainstream product. They rely solely on testimonials and word-of-mouth advertising. However you may find that MAC only advertises one product and that is Viva Glam Lipstick. This is their charity lipstick and it comes in five different shades.
