An article points out that to compensate for higher premiums, doctors must increase their fees. And not only that, but health insurance premiums for ordinary citizens also increase (“medical malpractice”). The combination of more expensive rates and premiums and a decrease in the availability of doctors has made healthcare more difficult to obtain in today's society. Instead of benefiting the healthcare system, medical malpractice litigation has managed to hinder it. Rooted in the desire to eliminate dangerous professionals, the proliferation of litigation created a toxic environment for doctors. The underlying causes of medical negligence are justified, but enforcement needs work. Lawsuits inadvertently increase doctors' liability insurance premiums, which stresses them financially and emotionally, who in turn leave an area and its residents. The effects of lawsuits are felt by both doctors and patients. This isn't to say that many doctors don't thrive in the healthcare system: they do.
