Topic > We must continue to fight Al-Qaeda and ISIS - 1241

American support for the war is waning, but the United States should stay in the war to prevent Al-Qaeda and ISIS from growing stronger, facilitating their efforts in global terrorism . Over 2,000 American soldiers have died in Afghanistan, but efforts to prevent global terrorism in our nation have diminished greatly. What would happen if all troops were withdrawn from Afghanistan now? Would terrorism increase to an all-time high? Absolutely yes, without a doubt Al-Qaeda and ISIS would become stronger and 9/11 should not be the only day we remember with infamy. “The stakes are very high,” said U.S. Gen. John Allen, the top commander in Afghanistan. said recently. “The fact that we were attacked on September 11 (2001) is a direct relationship between what happened that day and what could happen again if we don't get it right.” The public is usually not well informed or receives only the sugar-coated news about the war, but the fact that a US general says that an act is imminent if we do not crush the enemy is scary because President Obama would have to extort most of the forces fighters and troops training the Afghan army and security forces. American General John Allen continues by saying that Al-Qaeda is "powerful". People tend to soften the kind of people these radical Muslims are. They have a monstrous amount of money, support, contacts and countries willing to harbor these terrorists so they can continue to commit these heinous crimes. Stephen M. Walt argues that the United States has no real reason to spend its time and effort in Afghanistan. Furthermore, the task of creating a democracy is no longer a concern of the United States but of... middle of paper... fighting anymore. The United States must continue to fight to protect the great citizens of this free country. Patience is needed, and American lives and good people count on us fighting Al-Qaeda until they are eliminated. Works Cited Carmen Gentile. (September 19, 2012). United States today.
