The role of business in society has been a major topic of discussion in recent decades. People often have a preconceived idea about business that its only purpose is to generate profit, but there are non-profit organizations that are socially responsible and work for the betterment of society. A business can be defined as a commercial activity carried out by organizations, while non-profit entities also engage in commercial activities for various social and economic causes. Businesses can range from sole proprietorships, small and medium-sized enterprises to multinational organizations (Investopedia, 2009). Considering the early developments of business, a simultaneous progress in society and human civilization is evident. In the beginning, people engaged in the exchange of goods and services with each other, also called a barter system. There is also plenty of evidence to suggest that trade was carried out between different ancient civilizations such as India, China and Egypt (Kumar, 2012). As a result, many barriers between countries have been eliminated and have helped create strong trade relationships between them. Since then, the business has evolved into a very organized and advanced entity that has influenced society in a radical way. It is important to analyze the different aspects of business and its purpose in society. Ethics in business, corporate social responsibility, impact of globalization in society and overall objective of business in society will be discussed further in the essay. Business ethics is one of the most important aspects of business. It consists of the fundamental/moral principles of conduct that must be put into practice... half of the document......porate_matters/why_business_ethics_are_important_for_a_company_and_its_success.htmlInvestopedia.
