Zimbabwe is a third world country where many facilities are not available as well as health oriented programs, many people live in deplorable conditions which also contribute to the risk of infection. Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome or AIDS caused by HIV, is a disease caused by sexual intercourse with infected people, AIDS can also be caused by prenatal transmission and if the mother were to have AIDS, the child would also be infected. AIDS infection causes the person's immune system to weaken, which could then cause a spiral effect that would make the person susceptible to other diseases. Education and socio-economic issues are critical in areas of third world countries where there are not many resources to take advantage of. AIDS has become an epidemic in the African country of Zimbabwe where, although the number of AIDS infections has increased and decreased in recent years. Zimbabwe is a third world country where living conditions are not up to par as is inadequate attention to people's health. The people of Zimbabwe have worked hard and live in very basic areas where there is not an emphasis on sanitation and hygiene of the people living in the areas.
