Social class plays an important role in healthcare when it comes to opportunities and choices. Janny Scott's (2005) article Life at the Top in America Is Not Just Better, It's Longer shows how healthcare is different with three different individuals. It shows the situation of three individuals and, due to their social class, how they are treated when they suffer from a heart attack. After reading the article the upper middle class has many choices and opportunities for the best healthcare. The middle/working class has many choices when it comes to healthcare, but does not have the same opportunities as upper-middle class individuals. Based on these examples, the lower class gets both few choices and opportunities when it comes to healthcare. When it comes to healthcare, I believe social class plays an important role in choices and opportunities. With these choices and opportunities created by social class one is able to achieve a very positive identity. I am very lucky today to have the most important person in my life still alive. If it weren't for my parents' social class and the choices and opportunities it created, I don't think I would have my mother today. In 2009, my mother was diagnosed with stage 3 rectal cancer and it was the worst feeling in the world. I remember sitting in my room
