IntroductionSocial networking has quickly made its way into American culture and is more widespread than ever. Many people have different opinions on the relevance and benefits of social networks, be they positive or negative views. However, social media and networking are part of our American lifestyle as a whole. As a Computer Information Systems major studying the fundamentals and composition of computer applications, I would like to research the effects social networks have on college students attending a historically black college or university. To conduct this research, you need to conduct a study and survey to determine whether social networks positively or negatively impact grade point averages by recording the number of social networks students actively use and the number of hours spent on these applications relative to grade . point averages. This research is important because there are many people who don't know the effects their social networks, or lack thereof, have on their school grades, sleep habits, health and overall lifestyles. While this research will focus on students' grade point averages, it will also determine whether social networking has effects on other aspects of college life such as sleep, health and mindfulness. Purpose of the Study Individuals should understand that the use or non-use of social media has negative and positive effects on their lives, whether they recognize it or not. Students who overuse social networking applications may be negatively affected because they spend too much time on these applications instead of paying attention in class, completing homework, studying, s...... half of a paper ...... social networks actively used by students and the number of hours spent on these applications compared to grade point averages. This research is important because there are many people who don't know the effects their social networks, or lack thereof, have on their school grades, sleep, health and overall lifestyles. This research is unique because it will shed light on individuals who are against social networks that do not take into account their positive outcomes and on those who believe that social networks have no drawbacks and are too blinded by social networks to even notice the effects they have on their lives .Works Cited Turan, Z., Tinmaz, H., & Goktas, Y.
