Management vs. LeadershipThe comparison and trait differences between leadership and management techniques and styles is like comparing apples and oranges. Leadership should be an asset of management, but unfortunately not all managers have leadership qualities. A manager is a director, a supervisor, someone who dictates to employees. A leader focuses on organizing and inspiring people to become entrepreneurs. The role and responsibilities of both leaders and managers in creating and maintaining a healthy organizational culture have differences and similarities, both a leader and a manager have the same goal of having a healthy organization but the approaches are different. An example from summarizes the differences between a leader and a manager: "The leader is followed and the manager commands. A leader is someone who people follow naturally through their own choice, while a manager must be obeyed. A manager can only have obtained his position of authority over time and the loyalty given to the company, not as a result of his leadership qualities. A leader may not have organizational skills, but his vision unites the people behind him. Managers enjoy the status quo while leaders accept change. Managers like their environment to remain the same; they want to keep their empire intact without anything altering this managerial world of dictatorship and control. Leaders allow change and use it to their advantage by accepting change and running with it and people like to follow someone with trust and confidence to make this change a positive goal Managers are inclined to take control and control situations, and leaders delegate and include everyone as a team. Leaders initiate and implement by involving people and managers require ... middle of paper ... rational technique and the leader uses passion and motivates intensity in people. The aspiration of both the manager and the leader is to direct people; this commonality is what makes or puts them in charge. Followers put leaders in charge, and managers are put in charge following a path that leads to management. Both a leader and a manager have the advantage of coordinating people; it is how the individual handles power that separates his qualifications.
