Durkheim's ritual theoretical approach presents a unique perspective that describes the important social rituals that take place in today's society such as churches, funerals, weddings, and sporting events. Throughout his theory, Durkheim describes different social groups and explains how these beliefs and practices are directly related to the rituals and actions associated with them. Durkheim presents a relationship between ritual behaviors and devotion to social order. Many rituals often have sacred objects that provide individuals with significant meaning or a set of specific beliefs, which connect them to a particular group. Sporting events are popular in today's culture, yet many have not considered this event from a different theoretical perspective. Sacred objects such as team logos, sports equipment, and the use of team colors are all symbols that connect one person to the next. The rituals presented in a sporting event can also be understood according to Durkheim's theoretical philosophies. Baseball games were held at Heritage Park on March 22, 2014. This sporting event featured many traditions that seemed to be a vital part of the experience fans and players sought. reach. The rituals practiced before the match were seen through the people engaged in the pre-match celebrations. Among most participants, people were observed gathering in large groups to celebrate a common interest in their particular team. These match day celebrations seem to be more common in our society today, especially in most sports where some fans may spend the entire day participating in these celebrations. The fans seem to be the most involved when it comes to the celebrations. Some wear funny clothes, while either... half of paper... recreate high levels of co-presence, common emotional mood, and common focus of attention." (Durkheim, in Allan, 2013, p. 131). This idea theory presents a perspective on institutions and social events that may never have been presented before. The work done by Durkheim highlights how things are not just one-dimensional, but shows it in a way that takes other aspects into account and sees things for. what they simply are, not what we imagine them to be. Society's norms and beliefs are constantly changing, which also leads to many other theories or ideas emerging that will try to explain why these types of events happen and what they actually mean rituals we engage in begin to describe much of who we are.
