Topic > Interdepartmental Communication is Essential - 690

Inefficient communication within the boundaries of the organization has resulted in several departmental conflicts that impact the business entity as a whole. Internal communication plays a vital role in all business entities and there is several evidences to support this statement. Organizations with effective communication thrive and achieve their intended goals in a timely manner, while various other organizations fail to optimally utilize their resources. Many other organizations fail to succeed due to lack of information flow and inadequate communication channels (Hanna, 2005). Due to the ineffective connection between employees within the company structure, this has resulted in conflicts between departments and affects the organization as a whole. There are several reasons why interdepartmental communication is affected and impacts the organization and its ability to perform as a Total. The main causes that can be taken into consideration are poor team spirit, conflict between department managers, lack of incentives/rewards, cultural differences or lack of employee involvement programs, while few organizations lack good organizational values to be shared within an organization. Perhaps according to (Clarke, 2009) constant incentives could develop a good team along with knowledge sharing and learning within an organization. This can be further complemented by the idea of (Lam and Lambermont-Ford, 2010) which states that the top hierarchy of any organization can increase information sharing by rewarding and, in turn, motivating employees to share information with each other. The organization where the pressure for production is very high is facing a setback as the employees do not bother to share the information considering......half of the paper......and the knowledge should be accepted and transformed into organizational learning. There are various ways to share and learn knowledge within an organization, including building trust as it is a deliberate act of putting yourself in a vulnerable position towards someone else . As (Renzl, 2008) states that 'fear of losing one's unique value' is a major part due to which trust is lacking within an employee and the organization. Trust can only be considered by believing as the same cannot be measured. Besides trust, another important factor is the social network, which is also a determining factor since studies show that the sharing process can be improved through interaction between employees. As (Ma Kela et al, 2004) and (Hoe, 2006) state that knowledge sharing can be understood as the informal and formal exchange that occurs through social interaction.
