However what they fail to recognize is that college is about learning, so there is no dress code. Yes, there are certain days, like when you give a speech, when you want to sound professional, but in general people don't focus on things like that because frankly, no one cares. Even in professional offices most of the time shoulders, collarbones and knees are acceptable. Another argument in favor of these strict dress codes is that without them people would dress in a way that would distract their peers. When, in reality, it is every student's responsibility to control their mind and concentrate in class. Doubting students' ability to control their minds is an insult to them. This suggests that these students are unable to control their thoughts and that other people must change to meet their needs. This is not how the world works and if these students think the world around them will change to meet their needs they are sadly mistaken and are definitely not college or career ready. These young adults should be held accountable for themselves
