It seems like you either love it or hate it, but you can't help it. Adam Sandler has risen to the top and he has his loyal fans to thank for that. While most actors struggle to reach the top by relying mostly on hype, for Sandler this actually worked against him. No one thought it would be successful, but the fans made it happen, taking it to the top of the box office. Sandler grew up in Brooklyn, New York and was born on September 9, 1966. While this probably doesn't come as a surprise, Adam was the class clown throughout high school. What's surprising is that Adam never realized how useful his sense of humor would be. He got his start in stand-up comedy one night when he started performing at a Boston bar he often went to. Although Sandler is often dismissed as immature, he is college educated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from New York University. He relied on the money he earned working as a stand-up comedian and with a recurring role on the hit Cosby Show as Theo Huxtable's dim-witted friend. He spent some time doing stand-up comedy in Los Angeles, where former Saturday Night Live star Dennis Miller saw his performance. Miller talked to producer Lorne Michaels about him, and Adam Sandler soon began working for SNL. At first he was primarily a writer who occasionally appeared on the show.
