Analysis of Sonnet 33I have seen many a glorious morningFlattering the mountain tops with a sovereign eye,Kissing the green meadows with a golden face,Golding pale streams with celestial alchemy,Anot allowing the clouds lower ride with the hideous rock on his celestial face and from the desolate world hide his face, fleeing invisible westward with this misfortune. Even so my sun one early morning shone with triumphant splendor upon my brow. But out, alas! he was mine only for an hour, the cloud of the region has now hidden him from me, yet for this reason my love does not disdain him, the suns of the world can stain when the sun of the sky stains. This sonnet hosts images of nature, personifying certain elements of nature. 2: "Ý I have seen a great deal of glorious mornings" "flattering the mountain tops with (a) sovereign eye." The sun here is the eye of the morning, making the latter in the guise of a person. Using "sovereign" to describe the "eye" gives the reader the impression that the sun is, perhaps, the ruler of nature....
