When talking about Fahrenheit 451 there is a part that says “We have everything we need to be happy, but we are not happy. Something is missing." While reading Fahrenheit 451 people are not completely happy when it comes to life, even if they think they are. One aspect that Bradbury might define as happiness is the idea of knowledge. When talking about the idea of happiness it is said that it could be defined as knowledge but this idea in Fahrenheit 451 because Bradbury says that "something is missing" to be happy and it is the only thing that is missing in the futuristic society that is Fahrenheit 451 are books leading to the expansion of knowledge. This knowledge leads people to think for themselves in terms of what they want and not what society tells them to want and in this way they can find happiness and what makes them happy on their own, instead of being programmed to think they are happy when they really want it. I'm not. It seems like people are not happy and this is easily understandable when Mildred tried to kill herself and one can also wonder if Chief Beatty let her do it too....
