Portrait of a young man. Portrait of a young man was painted by Angolo Bronzino between the years 1503-1572. The portrait measures 37 5/8 x 29 ½ inches and is an oil on wood (Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1999). I chose this painting for the self-confidence, at first glance, of the young man depicted. This appealed to me because it reflected my attitude. After studying the portrait for a considerable period of time, I began to see possible sadness or insecurity in the face of the young man who betrays his powerful position. I felt a connection with the young man, knowing all too well what it meant to present a powerful external image while knowing that inside was an awkward and scared person. The main image of the portrait is the young man. He wears a long black jacket, in the sixteenth century style, with part of the white collar gathered and the cuffs protruding from the jacket. He also wears a black cap and what appears to be a beaded cap. He has a light complexion. His oval-shaped face contains dark, oval-shaped eyes with light, rounded eyebrows. It has an elongated nose with an indentation under it. She has peach lips and a cleft chin. It is slightly turned towards the viewer.
