Conflict: Conflict is when 12 jurors must decide whether a boy is guilty or not guilty based on the evidence they took notes on while listening to it in court . The boy is convicted of his father's murder and risks the death penalty. The 12 jurors go to the conference room to discuss it among themselves and then vote. Voting takes place around the room and each juror verbally declares "guilty" or "not guilty". After the vote, 11 jurors vote guilty on the charge, while a lone juror votes not guilty, which causes great conflict with the other 11 members of the jury. The lone juror (juror #8) says the boy's life shouldn't be decided just by a vote, but thinks it should be discussed. Then the lone juror explains why he voted not guilty. Continuing to speak he asks for a new vote. Then, after counting the votes, the number of jurors voting guilty and not guilty changed from 11-1 to 10-2. This causes the indignation of the 10 voters of the guilty jury. So, while the 12 jurors discuss among themselves, each juror declares what he thinks; they take key pieces of evidence out of the room and continue to argue and argue. At the end of the several-hour discussion about what to believe, there were no voters on the jury who were more guilty; they had all changed their votes to not guilty after juror no. 8 had convinced each of them of scenarios as to why they thought the boy should be proven not guilty. Negotiation Techniques: Each juror had their own techniques for discussing the murder situation, whether it was using the facts, the witness, the motives, etc. Some of them were very strong and powerful in the way they would discuss the murder, others were just calm and polite in the way they handled the discussion or how they handled... ... middle of paper ...... The juror no. 11 is a foreigner, a watchmaker, respectful, thinks about the whole discussion about the murder, takes his time to explain his side of the story. Finally, juror no. 12, doesn't talk much. I see him throughout the video listening a lot. He appears to be a respectful and well-rounded man. Message Learned: From this movie I learned that when the time comes when you end up deciding whether a person lives or not, you should take some time to discuss or think about your decision and why it is the right decision to make or if it is the correct decision to take. Even trying to get through something because you have to be somewhere isn't a great decision. Also, using harmful words or sayings won't get you anywhere in an argument, but being able to support what you have to say in a somewhat polite way can really help the people who have to listen to you a lot..
