. Fascism and communism are two different forms of government that are very similar. Fascism is a 20th century form of nationalistic, militaristic, and totalitarian dictatorship that seeks to create a viable society through rigorous regimentation of national and individual life. Communism is a type of government where there is no private property and the government controls the entire economy. Communism seeks to satisfy society's basic needs by sharing work and benefits. Both theories were dictatorships first loved by the people and soon after hated. In October 1922 Mussolini was appointed prime minister. He used his militia to eliminate any opposition to fascism from local governments. In the worsening conditions in which Italy was about to collapse, the fascist party appealed to the frustrations of the soldiers and the middle class. The fascists offered a return to traditional values, promising to restore Italy to a position of glory. More importantly, the fascists offered to do something about the deteriorating conditions. On October 24, 1917, Bolshevik forces and their allies began to seize essential centers of power. The next morning the Bolsheviks informed the still assembled Congress of Soviets that they had seized power in the name of the Russian workers and peasants and had established a temporary government.
