Should nations limit immigration? In this short essay I will address the question of whether or not nations should limit immigration. It is important to note that my perspective comes from years of living in an American society. When I talk about immigrants in many cases I am referring to illegal immigrants, because it is they who are enacted restrictive laws for preventive purposes. Furthermore, they are the ones that people fear and mostly refer to when talking about immigration. Laws determine the extent to which immigration is legal. For our purposes, let us assume the following statement: All laws are based on the fundamental desire to maintain ethical civility within society. Our goal as members of society should be to improve society. The distribution of wealth is unequal around the world. Billionaires dine on yachts, while children in developing countries die of polio. I am not suggesting that a world dictator distribute wealth as equally as possible. Because this would be subjective, it would create social chaos, it would introduce an evil that contradicts the initial sentiment, it would be unsustainable and not preferable to society reaching a relative equilibrium on its own, which I believe is possible to a certain extent. If we accept that all laws should be created in the interest of the world as a whole, in the betterment of society and the individual, these values should be applied to any restrictive laws placed in relation to immigration. The question of whether nations should limit immigration raises many other questions. First, why do people choose to immigrate to America? With varying degrees of desperation, potential immigrants choose to immigrate to another nation because they perceive its safety and improvement... middle of paper... there were no immigration laws in place, if "anyone "If we could enter and settle in the United States, we would become overpopulated and would be unable to adequately care for, protect, educate, and support our citizens. Suppose this would happen if individuals now considered illegal could more easily obtain legal citizenship, and suppose that huge numbers of immigrants poured into the country daily: we would not be able to sustain society as we know it now, because of limited land resources. . Therefore I propose to further address the issue we talked about before, that potential immigrants are dissatisfied with their current lives, I believe their lives can be improved without immigration. I believe that anything from politics and manual labor in nations that need help will reduce the feelings of urgency surrounding immigration.
