At the beginning of “12 Angry Men” the judge tells the jury “One man is dead, another man's life is at stake. I urge you to think thoughtfully and honestly", this means completely entrusting the verdict to the jury. If there is any reasonable doubt, the jury must confirm a verdict of not guilty. Therefore, the conflict begins. The men agree to make a preliminary vote, the final total was eleven guilty and one not guilty. The end of the vote leaves the men in a conflict to convince one man against eleven. Soon after, Juror No. 3, George C. Scott, asks Juror No .8, Jack Lemmon, which creates another conflict right there. We see throughout the film that Juror #3 doesn't let anything go easily, facts are facts, no matter how it feels personal situations that once again "does not let go", it has now become a problem to prove whether the boy is guilty or not guilty. Since the conflict is at hand, it will be necessary to resort to persuasion and negotiation. precede a conclusion. Juror no. 8 convinces the others to agree to at least discuss the situation before sending the boy away. As they argue, they negotiate facts by testing them and using each individual's average knowledge. Throughout this process each man has the opportunity to explain why he thinks the boy is guilty or not guilty, this allows each man to put their side and thoughts on the table. With all the disagreement and negotiations you see men coming together as alliances. The first alliance we see is at the very beginning between Juror #2. 8 and juror no. 9 (Hume Cronyn). Juror no. 9 is an older man, believes that men should be recognized and respects each other's opinions. He begins as the only one who... middle of paper... times and titles are not the source of leadership, not once was the name of the men revealed, no one had to claim the title of "leadership", every juror took on different leadership roles as the plot unfolded. I have learned that leadership is achieved through experience and learning. One may be born with the qualities of a leader and others must learn and practice to acquire those qualities. Some dream of being “The President of the United States,” “The Student Body President,” or even “The Captain” of a sports team. Now some want the title of leadership while others want to lead the group of people in the right direction. But once again names and titles are not the source of leadership. Who were these men? They each have a personal title or job, but in that jury room they were known as the number they were assigned. They were alone in that room, against each other.
