Celebrity StyleCelebrity Style politics uses public popularity, lack of political interest and media attractiveness to attract new voters and gain influence in the political arena. As a child I spent many Sunday mornings watching the WWF wrestling with my brother. I never imagined then that Jesse “The Body” Ventura would become the governor of Minnesota! He was a public entertainer with no post-high school education and little if any knowledge of politics. How he won Minnesota's gubernatorial election may be a mystery to some. However, Governor Jesse Ventura has a distinct and effective political style that appeals to much of the public. Basically, celebrity style has little to do with politics. Jesse Ventura doesn't have many prominent political figures backing him. He had no previous family members involved in government. He has little interest in politics itself. However, although he lacks political interest, he has political knowledge and positions on important issues. However, Jesse would not have been elected governor if he had not been an attractive celebrity. Her celebrity style has many characteristics. Lack of political interest. Since most ordinary citizens think that politics is dirty and remote, a politician with no political interest attracts the public. He seems to be one of us, in the sense that he doesn't really care what the politicians in Washington do. He doesn't want to get involved in "dirty politics" either. Therefore, the public is not afraid of him being quick or dishonest about issues. The public trusts him because he is politically equivalent to them. His position on political issues and solutions to political disputes appears to be simple and practical. Ventura alludes to this approach in a Playboy interview: “I only have a high school education, but I'm smart, which can be more effective than college degrees. I operate by a rule I learned in SEAL training: keep things simple and stupid. This is common sense. To the public, yes, it seems like common sense, and that's one of the reasons they like it. The public actually recognizes his vocabulary when he talks about issues such as state budget surpluses or infrastructure. Indeed, Ventura's speeches are said to be rich in personal stories and recollections and short on political details.
