Managing diversity No two human beings are the same. People are different not only in gender, culture, race, social and psychological characteristics, but also in perspectives and prejudices. Society has discriminated on these aspects for centuries. Women and minority groups were denied their due rights. But not anymore. Since the 1960s, when federal legislation prohibited employment discrimination, minority and women applicants have become the fastest-growing segment of the workforce. Diversity makes the workforce diverse. The diversity of the workforce used in the corporate world today is given by the different characteristics of the employees working in the same organization. Despite the magnitude of the ethical, legal, economic, social and political dimensions that define workplace diversity initiatives, the fields of human resource development and continuing professional education have yet to develop an integrated vision for creating more inclusive working environments. There are questions that are raised. The dominant groups are not fully prepared to accept reality. There are also communication problems. But then there are also huge advantages. With these aspects in mind, this document will highlight various issues related to diversity. What is diversityWorkforce diversity refers to the various personal characteristics that make the workforce diverse. Diversity is not just related to sex. As time passes, organizations are becoming more diverse in terms of race, age, sexual orientation and ethnicity.
